A Spring Formal, with the theme “Step into Wonderland,” will be held in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room on Saturday, April 2, from 8 p.m. to midnight.

It comes on the heels of last semester’s overwhelmingly successful prom at Hemingway Hall.

What the Resident Assistant Advisory Board is putting together promises to be a night to remember, featuring dance, laughs and magic, reports Alicia Wroblewski of the Office of Residence Life. “Watch the MPR come to life with this ‘Alice in Wonderland’-themed prom.”

Besides dancing, delicious hors d'oeuvres and beverages – all tied to the “Alice in Wonderland” theme – will be served, and 10 lucky students will take home a raffle prize. A grand prize that’s being kept a secret will also be presented.

The Williams Center Multipurpose Room will be dressed up for the occasion, adorned with mushrooms, playing cards, oversized chess pieces and other decorations that will be kept a surprise until the event, said Nyiesha Francis, a resident assistant who worked on the Hemingway prom. “We can promise that the room will truly transform,” she added.

DJ Majik (Jon Maternowski, a sophomore Communication: Media Management major), who plays at Valentine’s Place every Thursday, in addition to other venues such as bars and barns, will furnish music. He’s also been on duty in the Multipurpose Room for “Battle of the New Bands.” Organizers say they are “super-psyched” to bring DJ Majik on board for the event.

“We are hoping, at a minimum, to have everyone dress in semi-formal attire,” added Erich Dickey, a resident assistant. “However, we are not going to turn people away who decide to not dress up. Additionally, we encourage everyone to go all out! So, if someone wants to wear a gown to the event, that is more than welcome!”

Tickets are $5 and are available at the Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center or online
