SUNY Fredonia professor to explore smart road monitoring system

SUNY Distinguished Professor Junaid Zubairi will discuss the design and development of a smart road monitoring system at the Center for Innovation and Economic Development, formerly known as the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator, on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m.

Capabilities of the system include detection and enumeration of vehicles, average speed of traffic passing an observation point, detection of rain, snow and other weather-related conditions and the detection of accidents and crashes in real-time.

Joining Dr. Zubairi, founder and CEO of ZubAir Data LLC and a client of the innovation and economic development center, in the presentation will be Mohammed Faseeh Uddin, a graduate student in robotics and mechanical engineering.

Zubairi is chair of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at SUNY Fredonia.

The presentation at the center, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY, is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Register here.
