At the conclusion of the 2025 lacrosse season, the SUNYAC coaches voted a trio of Fredonia State lacrosse players to the All-Conference squad. Seniors Sydney Buchko and Emma Cockerel, and junior Camryn Jacobs were all named to the Third Team.
Buchko, a midfielder, ranked in the Top 10 in the conference in five categories: points (tenth, 72); assists (seventh, 30); ground balls (fourth, 45); caused turnovers (fourth, 33); and draw controls (fifth, 91).
Buchko also reached the 100-goal plateau when she scored four times against Potsdam. She also set the team career draw control standard with 331. In the team record books, she ranks in the Top 10 in six categories:
First in draw controls with 331
Sixth in goals with 106
Third in assists with 68
Fourth in points with 174
Fifth in ground balls with 185
Fifth in caused turnovers with 92
"Sydney is a threat all over the field," said head coach Tori Poffenberger. "On offense, she is able to create for herself and her teammates. On defense, she can shut down her match up, while being all over the eight meter with her slides and crashes. She's a force on the draw circle, too. At the beginning of this season, she had goals to get in the Top 5 or 10 at Fredonia for every statistical category and she achieved that and much more on and off the field this year."
Cockerel, an attacker, was a force on offense. She led the team with 43 goals and was second with 22 assists and 65 points. Cockerel scored her 100th career point with a five-goal, two-assist performance against Morrisville. In the conference, she ranked 13th in points and goals, and 11th in assists.
"Emma is an attacker who is a constant triple threat - she can get by her defender, she can feed to cutters, and she can move the ball to a teammate who can find a scoring opportunity for someone else," said Poffenberger. "She was a big leader on our offense end this year and helped our sets run cohesively while knowing everyone had a role to play. She worked hard this year to take her game to the next level and it absolutely paid off."
Camryn Jacobs was the team's top defender. She gathered 20 ground balls and had 15 caused turnovers.
"As a pure defender, Cam's importance doesn't come from her stats," said Poffenberger. "It comes from her lacrosse IQ and individual defensive abilities. I gave a matchup to Cam every single game this year and that matchup was always their best attacker. Cam has the ability to keep players out of the eight meter with her one-v-one defense while also quarterbacking the defensive unit. She worked hard this year to fight for a top defensive spot on our team and within the SUNYAC."
