The start of the 2024-2025 school year may be several months away, but the Henry C. Youngerman Center Preschool at SUNY Fredonia has begun accepting applications for children ages 3 to 4 for the coming year.

A language-enriched curriculum that includes social and early literacy experiences in a creative and nurturing environment are offered to children at the preschool located in Thompson Hall, near the main campus entrance on Central Avenue.

The program operates Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. during SUNY Fredonia’s fall and spring semesters and also during the first summer session. It is not in session during campus breaks and national holidays.

Conducting the program are three graduate Speech-Language Pathology students who are enrolled in the SUNY Fredonia master’s degree program. They are overseen by a licensed speech-language pathology clinical supervisor who also acts as a classroom teacher and program coordinator. Instruction is hands-on, encompassing multisensory activities for all developmental and educational domains with a focus on social/emotional, language and early literacy.

Class size is limited to 12 children.

The mission of the preschool program is to provide young children with learning experiences guided by principles of developmentally appropriate practice within a language-rich environment. The learning experiences foster social, emotional, physical and academic success.
