It's the second #FREDIanthropy Day of Giving. Fredonians of all affiliations are encouraged that day to take to the Fredonia social media pages and share their FREDfavorites, learn about the impact of donations around campus, and most importantly, spread the culture of #FREDlanthropy by giving back through the Fredonia College Foundation.
Fredonia will be able to continue Upward Bound, a pre-college preparation program designed to help participants enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education, for another five years, with receipt of an annual $368,244 federal grant.

Michael Metzger has been named the new Vice President for Finance and Administration at Fredonia. He will assume his duties at Fredonia on July 3. Mr. Metzger has 30 years of experience in the private sector, and currently serves as Vice President and Strategic Advisor for Blackstone Advanced Technologies LLC of Jamestown.
The Chautauqua County School Boards Association has honored Charles Stoddart, associate professor of School Building Leadership in the College of Education, with its 2017 Friend of Education award. Dr. Stoddart, whose career in education spans parts of six decades, is co-coordinator of School Building and School District Leadership programs in the Department of Language, Learning and Leadership.
All are invited to join in the fun of trick-or-treat at Lanford House at 194 Central Ave. The village of Fredonia’s official hours for trick-or-treat are 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Area children, families and Fredonia students are welcome!
The Fredonia Technology Incubator will launch its third Student Business Competition with a kick-off event on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk. The annual competition provides the opportunity for Fredonia students to submit a business proposal and compete for office space, a business mentor and incubator support services.
Native American culture will be front and center in a variety of events, all free and open to the public, to be held to commemorate Native American Heritage Month. The events, coordinated by the campus Native American Student Union, showcase the rich heritage of different Native American populations.
