Fredonia State mascot Mike Blue Devil will face off against Coby T. Tiger of SUNY Cobleskill in the opening round of SUNY's 2014 Mascot Madness Competition. Mike is seeded 18th in the field of 43 mascots. Coby comes in as the 15th seed.

The Mascot Madness is modeled after NCAA basketball's March Madness.

The first round of voting opens at noon on March 11. You can vote via Facebook and Twitter. SUNY social media followers (Facebook, Twitter) may vote once every 72 hours on the SUNY Mascot Madness website, which is hosted by the Generation SUNY Blog (blog.SUNY.edu; use shortlink for Mascot Madness.

Mascots have been seeded by a selection committee using a standard single-elimination bracket of four divisions with five rounds used for the competition. Seed rankings are based on the number of teams that a particular campus represents and then enrollment data was used to break any ties.

This year's SUNY Mascot Madness competition includes 43 SUNY campuses representing 650 athletic teams and over 360,000 students. In order to offer every campus an equal opportunity to become New York's favorite mascot, Round I and Round II, as they appear on the bracket, will be held simultaneously. This enables each participating campus to receive a full week of open voting before potentially moving on to the second round.

Wednesday, March 19, 12 p.m. - Sunday, March 23, 4 p.m.
