Fredonia State sophomore sprinter Anna Dambacher (Divernon, Ill./Auburn) has been named Women's Track Athlete of the Week by the State University of New York Athletic Conference. She is the first Fredonia State women to receive the award this winter.

Dambacher first lowered, then smashed, her own school record in the women's 60 meters Saturday at Ithaca Bomber Invitational. Her preliminary time of 8 seconds flat -- fastest among the 52 women entered at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational -- was one-hundredth of a second faster than her previous fastest school-record time.

In Saturday's 60-meter final, Dambacher finished second in 7.92 seconds, another new school record. It is the third fastest time in the SUNYAC this winter and tied for No. 30 on the NCAA D-III qualifying list.

Dambacher also was part of the Blue Devils' fourth-place 4-by-400 relay; its 4:09.18 is third-fastest in team history. She has also broken school indoor 200-meter and 400-meter records this winter.
