Recipients of $500 Fredonia Veterans Scholarships, announced at the Nov. 7 Veterans Remembrance Ceremony held at the Williams Center, are (from left): Andrew Flagg, a senior from Jamestown majoring in Social Studies Adolescence Education who served in the U.S. Marine Corps; Jayde Gemboys, a junior from Blasdell majoring in Social Work and Criminal Justice whose father served honorably in the military; Patrick Seiberg, a junior from Bemus Point majoring in Criminal Justice who is currently serving in the U.S. Air Force Reserves; and Mikalena Wojcinski, a junior from Fredonia majoring in Psychology and Criminal Justice who served in the U.S. Navy.

Dr. Sarah Hamilton of the School of Music notes that much has changed in the classical music field over the last 20 years or so and that classically-trained musicians, particularly “classical” chamber groups, are currently exploring incorporating different musical styles. Her sabbatical project proposal is to explore the new movement (starting through the lens of an oboist) and its successes, its challenges, and its relevance for how Fredonia, as a collegiate school of music, currently trains future performers.

Business Club honors Cutting Crew owners Canfora and Michalak

On Thursday, March 6, the SUNY Fredonia Business Club presented the 37 th Annual Business Persons of the Year Award to Rita Canfora and Debbie Michalak, owners of The Cutting Crew, located on Eagle Street in the village of Fredonia. An award banquet and ceremony was held in the Williams Center.

Accounting becoming 'major' major at SUNY Fredonia

The number of School of Business Majors at Fredonia, including Accounting, are growing rapidly. Events such as “Meet the Accountants Night,” where students are recruited by professionals, are being implemented to further the School of Business and its students.
