Tyler Tumminia, daughter of a baseball scout who named her after Ty Cobb, will give a talk on campus Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. in Thompson Hall W101 on the subject of using social media to generate fan relationships. She is the guest of the Sports Management and Exercise Science Club.

The event is free and open to the public.

Tumminia is the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Operations for the Goldklang Group, a sports entertainment consulting and management firm. The Group provides operational consulting and management services in all areas relating to sports franchise and event acquisition, promotion and operation.

Responsible for the marketing and broad scale sponsorships, operations, and communication efforts for the Goldklang Group, Tumminia developed the Group’s award-winning marketing philosophy, “Be Your Own Fan”, in response to current market trends and industry analysis.

She was recently named the 2011 Executive of the Year by New York University's sports management program, and has been invited to attend the Major League Baseball Scout School in Arizona.

The event is free and open to the public.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.
