Kelsie Rayburn, of Bloomfield, N.Y., has been named Student of the Month for September by Residence Life. Kelsie was nominated for this award by Shari Miller, the Director of Purchasing, because of her involvement at Fredonia.

“Kelsie excels at her duties in our office, often taking on additional work in the absence of other staff members,” says Miller. “She is an exceptional worker and greets all people in a very professional manner.”

Kelsie is a senior Mathematics and Mathematic Adolescent Education major. She is a member of the Math Club, Teacher Education Club, a coach of the U-6 Summer Soccer League and plays in the Women’s Summer Soccer League. Kelsie works in the SUNY Fredonia Purchasing Office during the school year and will be student teaching in Australia in the spring of 2011.

Kelsie commented that the people are her favorite part of SUNY Fredonia; “All the people are extremely friendly.” Kelsie noted that “the faculty in the math department are some of the most helpful and caring people I have ever met. And the ladies in the Purchasing department are wonderful!” She also says she enjoys the beauty of the campus, especially in the fall with the smell of the grapes.
