Having founded Manowar in 1980, Dr. DeMaio has produced 13 albums, eight DVD packages and numerous singles which have each sold millions worldwide. The band has earned gold and platinum awards and completed more than 30 tours all over the world.

DeMaio holds a Ph.D in Musical Art. He has been the musical director and bass guitarist for national touring productions of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Hair,” “Godspell,” and “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” He has produced recordings with world-renowned actors such as Sir Christopher Lee, and the late Susannah York and Orson Welles. “DeMaio is an engineer, composer, producer, musician and business man,” says Armand Petri, a visiting instructor within SUNY Fredonia’s business department. “Many people know him for his music but don’t understand what it took not only to be the musician he has become, but also the international, successful business person he is today. I know those who come see him will be inspired and will have a real excitement listening to a man like Joey.”
