Patrick Damore will be honored Sept. 30 for meritorious service to the ECAC

Dr. Pat Damore, who until July 1, 2012 was the only commissioner the State University of New York Athletic Conference had ever known, has been named the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference Commissioner's Award.

Damore will be feted at the 2012 ECAC Honors dinner held in conjunction with the 24th Annual ECAC Convention and Trade Show that will be held September 29-October 2 at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa in Groton, Conn.

The Honors Dinner is slated for Sunday evening, September 30. Damore is SUNY Fredonia's former Athletic Director, a position he held for 18 years starting in 1968. He also coached soccer, tennis and basketball at Fredonia. 

The Commissioner's Award is presented for meritorious service to the ECAC or an ECAC member institution. The recipient must have demonstrated significant accomplishment in his or her chosen professional field or on the athletic field.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
