Under the supervision of Dr. Ivani Vassoler (Political Science & International Studies) two SUNY Fredonia students shared their research at the Conference on Latin American Studies that took place on March 7-8 at the University of Maryland, in Baltimore.

Leslie Rodriguez (History and International Studies major) presented a paper focusing on U.S. policies in Colombia; Jesse Raderman (Political Science major) delivered a paper on the role of remittances on economic development in Mexico.

They traveled with funds provided by the Office of Student Research and Creative Activity (OSCAR). At the conference, Leslie and Jesse exchanged ideas about their research and academic plans with students and faculty members from different parts of the country.

“This type of experience helps students to develop several skills that are extremely valuable in the job market and graduate school”, Vassoler says.
