Support group for stroke victims meets at clinic

Christine Davis Mantai

The Youngerman Center for Communication Disorders at SUNY Fredonia is offering support group meetings for stroke and head injury survivors and family members.

The group meets the first and third Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. in room W127 Thompson Hall. A typical group meeting includes activities to help stroke survivors use compensatory strategies to improve communication skills, provides educational information and an opportunity to socialize and share experiences. Light refreshments are provided.

The Youngerman Center recognizes that there are individuals in the community whose insurance benefit for therapy has been exhausted but their hopes for improvement have not. Please contact Julie Williams, Coordinator 716-673-3296 for more information about attending the group.

Meetings this semester are: Feb. 6, Feb. 20, Mar. 6, Mar. 27, Apr. 3, Apr. 17, and May 1.
