Women's Student Union and the Women's Studies Program at SUNY Fredonia are co-sponsoring an early version of the annual event, "Women, Rock & Soul," for the pre-homecoming crowd of alumni as well as to promote voter registration for this election season. The event starts at 7 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of Williams Center on Thursday, Sept. 27.

Women, Rock & Soul" promotes creative artistic expression and positive gender messages, while serving as an annual scholarship fundraiser. Performers in a variety of musical genres as well as poetry and other spoken word formats will provide the entertainment.

This year's "Women Rock the Vote" theme is enhanced by participation from local members of the American Association of University Women and League of Women Voters as well as student political groups, all of which will have tables for information on how to register to vote. Also, scholarship information and other services geared toward supporting women intellectually, politically, economically and culturally will be available.

Admission is a donation at the door ($5 suggested), which supports the Jeanette McVicker Women's Studies scholarship fund. There will also be a raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses. Light refreshments will be provided.
