Marion Art Gallery to host 'Fine Arts Senior Show' exhibition

The exhibition, titled “The Fine Arts Senior Show,” will open with a reception in the art gallery from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 3. The exhibition will highlight the best works by graduating Fine Arts students. Artists taking part in the exhibition are Jillian Berowski, Audrey Bialke, Dani Brooks, Tricia Butski, Lesley Cerniglia, Erica Kang, Christine McMullen, Sarah Peck, Lizzie Reid and Kimberly Zazzara.

Ralph J. Blasting appointed dean of new College of Visual and Performing Arts

On July 1, SUNY Fredonia will officially open its new College of Visual and Performing Arts, formally combining its world-renowned School of Music with its strong departments of Theatre and Dance, and Visual Arts and New Media, as well as the Michael C. Rockefeller Arts Center. Today, the university named Dr. Ralph J. Blasting as its founding dean.

The range of media explored by internationally known artists Sonya Clark, Anna Dumitriu, Paddy Hartley, Lindsay Obermeyer and Laura Splan extends from traditional embroidering, knitting, hand-quilting and beadwork to non-traditional works made from stethoscopes, hospital sheets, intravenous tubing, digital video and computerized machine embroidery. The "Gone Viral" exhibition, which continues through April 7, was curated by Leesa Rittelmann, associate professor of art history.
