Hastings receives state grant for film project

Department of Visual Arts and New Media Associate Professor Phil Hastings was recently been awarded a $10,000 New York State Council for the Arts' Individual Artist Grant for his current film project, “Tether.”

Student class projects impress furniture entrepreneur

Area resident George Theofilactidis, who founded specialty furniture maker El Greco Woodworking, Inc. more than 45 years ago, visited the class recently to see prototypes created by students using mostly blocks of wood that his company donates to SUNY Fredonia’s Sculpture program.

Online art museum exhibition explores Rey, his artwork

“Sustaining Home: The Art of Alberto Rey,” a collaborative exhibition of artwork by the SUNY Distinguished Professor at Fredonia accompanied by essays about his life and work written by SUNY students, is being hosted by The Art Museum of the Americas (AMA), of the Organization of American States, of Washington, D.C.

Student art sales raise over $2,000 for Literacy Volunteers

Sales of artwork created by Department of Visual Arts and New Media students at Fredonia have provided a hefty financial boost to Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County, a non-profit that provides tutoring services in reading, math, English language and other subjects.
