Honors Mission and Vision:

Honors Mission Statement: The Fredonia Honors Program supports academically motivated students by connecting these students to meaningful opportunities to learn, lead, and live amid a community of like-minded peers.

Honors Vision Statement: The Fredonia Honors Program will be a transformative, comprehensive experience for academically motivated students from diverse backgrounds, providing access to distinctive, high-impact, interdisciplinary learning and leadership opportunities.

Honors Program Requirements:

The 18-credit Fredonia Honors Program is compatible with any college major. Students complete five courses in Honors and a senior project within their major.

To remain in good standing in the Honors Program, students must do the following:

  • Students must also maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA to remain in good academic standing within the Honors Program and to be eligible for any remaining disbursements of the Honors Scholarship. Students will receive a one-time, one-semester grace period to meet the GPA requirement.
  • (For students entering the Honors Program in Fall 2026 and later) Honors students must enroll in a minimum of one Honors course per year until they have completed the Honors curricular requirements. If a student has not yet completed the Honors curricular requirements and does not successfully complete (with a minimum grade of C-) either one Honors course or an equivalent Honors learning contract for two or more consecutive semesters (excluding J-term, May term, and summer), that student will no longer be considered an Honors Program participant and will forfeit program benefits, including remaining disbursements of the Honors Scholarship. Students are encouraged to email honors.program@fredonia.edu to explore other qualifying experiences, such as HONR 490: Honors Internship or an Honors Program learning contract. Students may also complete an Honors Program Requirement Waiver if  necessitated by individual circumstances.

Please note that if a student asks to be removed from the Honors Program, that student will forfeit any remaining disbursements of the Honors Scholarship. Students must maintain at least an overall 3.3 GPA to remain in good standing in the program.
