The Honors Student of the Month Program is a collaboration between Honors Program and Honors House, which is part of the Office of Residence Life. This program is a wonderful addition to the Student of the Month Program, begun in Spring 2003 to recognize outstanding SUNY Fredonia students.
Criteria for Consideration: This year, the Honors Student of the Month Committee will recognize students who--through personal actions, campus engagements, or community service--demonstrate any or all of the following qualities:
- Personal Development (PD): Students who engage in divisional programs, activities, and services will develop a better sense of identity and self-awareness.
- Practical Problem Solving (PS): Students who engage in divisional programs, activities, and services will acquire practical skills that will enable them to provide solutions to problems they will encounter.
- Interpersonal Competence (IC): Students who engage in divisional programs, activities, and services will develop effective skills to have productive, meaningful relationships with others.
- Intercultural and Global Understanding (IGU): Students who engage in divisional programs, activities, and services will acquire skills and knowledge necessary to work in a diverse, global environment.
- Contributions to Honors Learning-Living Community. Special importance is given to students who support the Honors living-learning community, whether in Honors House, Honors Lounge, or the campus at large.
Additional Requirements: To be eligible for consideration, Honors students must also be in good standing in the Fredonia Honors Program. They must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher. They must also have successfully completed at least one Honors course and have completed at least one year at Fredonia. Students do not need to live on campus.
The student selected by the committee as the Honors Student of the Month will receive a gift card to the Bookstore and a certificate. In addition, the student’s name will be engraved on a plaque that will hang in the Office of Residence Life, and the student will have a biographical article published in the Campus Report.
To nominate a student, please see the staff and faculty nomination forms in the right navigation for this page. Not sure if the student you have in mind is in the Honors Programs or meets the additional requirements? Just email the Honors Program: we'll respond quickly!
The Honors House and Honors Program want to thank the Office of Residence Life for sponsoring this new program.
