Advancement division hires Patricia Herkey as designer

Award-winning graphic designer Patricia Herkey of Buffalo has been named Communications Designer at SUNY Fredonia. Ms. Herkey has been head of Herkey Design for the past year, and prior to that served as senior art director for several Buffalo-based advertising agencies, including The Martin Group, Quinlan & Company, The Wolf Group, and Travers/Collins/Partners.
 
She has performed work on behalf of such clients as HSBC Bank, Kodak, Rich Products, Fisher Price, National Fuel Gas, Constellation Brands, Orville’s Home Appliances, Ted’s Hot Dogs, and Irish Classical Theatre.
 
“Patty Herkey’s 17 years of experience and leadership in corporate, retail and non-profit graphic design make her an excellent fit for SUNY Fredonia’s wide-ranging design needs,” said Mike Barone, SUNY Fredonia’s director of Public Relations. “We look forward to benefiting from her expertise and insights.”
 
Herkey will work as part of a team within the division of University Advancement in the strategic planning and creation of a variety of communications for SUNY Fredonia that are aimed at prospective and current students, parents, alumni, business, government and community leaders, and SUNY Fredonia faculty and staff.  Additionally, she will head a publications team that manages nearly 600 projects per year.
 
The Buffalo Advertising Club has honored her with several awards during her career, including one Gold, five Silver, and two Bronze selections. She has extensive experience supervising others, having directed junior and freelance designers, illustrators and photographers, and overseen numerous outside vendors.
 
Herkey is a 1984 graduate of the graphic design and advertising program at Buffalo State College, another of the 64-member SUNY campuses across the state.

Department of Business Administration Professor Mojtaba Seyedian is a co-author of a book chapter, “Consumption Preferences and Utilities,” in the book “Systemic Principles of Applied Economic Philosophies: Producers, Consumers, and the Firm."
