Prep for final exams with ‘De-stress for Success’ activities

A wide range of activities have been organized to help students find ways to reduce stress in healthy, productive ways, as the number of days in the fall semester dwindles and final exam week approaches.

De-stress for Success provides a two-week window, starting on Sunday, Dec. 9, to help students achieve the focus they need to succeed. The options are plentiful.

logo for De-Stress for Success"Paws to Relax" – Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 17 and 18, from noon to 1 p.m., Reed Library. Pet and play with certified therapy dogs.

Calm Down and Warm Up – Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 19 and 20, from 11 a.m. to noon, Reed Library lobby. Relax with free cocoa and hand warmers.

Healthy Bites – Monday through Friday, Dec. 10-14 and Dec. 17-21, Student Health Center (LoGrasso Hall). Free healthy snacks.

Relaxation Kits – Monday through Friday, Dec. 10-14 and Dec. 17-21, Student Health Center (LoGrasso Hall). Free relaxation kits.

Gotta Study S’more – Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 17 and 18, from 1 to 2 p.m., Reed Library lobby. Take a break from studies and grab a free s’more kit.

Color Me Calm – Monday through Friday, Dec. 10-14 and Dec. 17-21, Counseling Center (LoGrasso Hall). Free coloring kits.

Stress Free Zone – Monday through Thursday, Dec. 10-13 and Dec. 17-20, Reed Library lobby. Take a timeout from a hectic schedule and relax with various stress relieving activities that include coloring, crafts and games.

Quiet study areas in Reed Library have extended hours – Sunday through Thursday, Dec. 9-13 and Dec. 16-20. The Reed Library classroom (first floor, Carnahan Jackson Center) will be available for quiet study in addition to the everyday quiet study areas on the second and third floors of the Carnahan Jackson Center.

The Williams Center Multipurpose Room is available for study Monday through Thursday, Dec. 17-21, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 p.m., and Friday, Dec. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Exam Study Break – Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 6 p.m., Williams Center Multipurpose Room. Sponsored by Spectrum.

Fitness Classes – The Aerobic Center will have a limited schedule of classes available during final exam week. Classes are free and open to all students. The Aerobic Center is located in the lower level of Hemingway Hall. Please see the Facebook page for the class schedule.

De-Stress for Success is sponsored by the Counseling Center, Reed Library, Student Health Center, Enrollment and Student Services, Residence Life, Campus Life, the Faculty Student Association and Spectrum.

Yan Jiang named recipient of SUNY’s McConney award

Yan Jiang, a SUNY Fredonia sophomore double major in Public Accountancy and Business Administration-Finance, was one of 52 students from throughout the State University of New York selected to receive the Norman R. McConney Jr. Award for Student Excellence.
