Members of the saxophone studio have been chosen to participate in two Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra events in early December.

Three students – Will Schrantz, a junior majoring in Music Education from Fredonia/Fredonia High School; Michelle Sanchez, a sophomore majoring in Music Education and Music Performance from Elizabeth, N.J./Frank J. Cicarell Academy; and Christopher Mantell, a sophomore majoring in Music Performance from Randolph/Randolph High School – will participate in a solo master class with acclaimed saxophonist Timothy McAllister.

Devin Banning, a first-year student majoring in Music Education from Getzville/Williamsville North High School, has been selected as an alternate.

The master class will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5, 7 p.m. at the Clement House, 786 Delaware Ave., and is free and open to the public. McAllister is scheduled to perform as soloist with the BPO on Dec. 7 and 8. Seat reservations for the master class can be made online.

Students of School of Music saxophone professor Dr. Wildy Zumwalt will also perform a Community Spotlight Concert that will precede the BPO concert at Kleinhans Music Hall, 3 Symphony Circle, on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 8 p.m. The students will perform in the Mary Seaton Room at Kleinhans at 7 p.m.

Special discount tickets for Saturday night’s concert are available to family and friends of members of the saxophone studio by calling the BPO box office at 716-885-5000 and mentioning the Fredonia saxophone studio to receive a deeply discounted rate.
