Two Fredonia seniors from the same hometown broke women's indoor track and field school records Saturday, records which they already held. Jamestown natives Mikayla Capestrani and Brittany Feldman set new marks in the pole vault and the 300 meters, respectively, at Cornell University's Marc Deneault Invitational inside Barton Hall.
Fredonia landed the No. 5 seed in the SUNYAC men's hockey tournament with a 6-2 home win Saturday over Morrisville State. The Blue Devils (11-10-4 overall/7-8-1 SUNYAC) will travel to No. 4 seed Plattsburgh for a first-round game on Wednesday night. They split their season-series with the Cardinals.
Two Fredonia student-athletes were cited Monday for their efforts in weekend meets. Senior pole vaulter Mikayla Capestrani (Jamestown/Jamestown) was named SUNYAC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. Men's freestyle specialist Graham Jones (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) was named SUNYAC Men's Swimmer of the Week.
Fredonia stayed in the running for a SUNYAC women's basketball playoff spot with a 66-50 win Saturday over Oswego State. Jenna Einink led the Blue Devils with 25 points while Jacque Law added 16 points, five assists, and three steals. Alisha Szumigala led both teams with 12 rebounds.
Fredonia senior Mikayla Capestrani established a new school record in the women's indoor pole vault during Saturday's Tiffin (Ohio) Dragon Grand Prix. She finished third in the event. By clearing 11 feet, 7 3/4 inches, Capestrani went two inches higher previous co-holders Julia Schreier and Olivia Kurbs.

Fredonia Swimming and Diving celebrated Senior Day 2018 with a dual meet Saturday vs. the Cortland Red Dragons. Five of the three seniors honors prior to the meet earned individual wins.

Fredonia junior hockey player Luke Rivera (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) is a finalist for the prestigious Hockey Humanitarian Award, a spokesman for the foundation making the award announced Monday. Rivera and four collegiate hockey players were selected as the final five from a group of 11 players from across the nation.
The Fredonia Women's swimming and diving team had one of its strongest showings of the year at Brockport on Saturday. Alyson Baumann led the way winning a pair of events. She won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:16.97, and the 500-yard free in 5:29.41.
