"Cabaret Night," an AIDS awareness and fundraising event, will be held at The Spot in the Williams Center on Wednesday, Dec. 1, beginning at 6:30 p.m. It will include improv performances by students in song, monologue and dance. Also, The Buster Brown Bean Company will be offering drink specials, with the proceeds of those specials being donated to the national Broadway Cares/ Equality Fights AIDS campaign (BC/EFA).
Sign ups for performances begin at 6:30 p.m. at The Spot, with performances starting at 7 p.m.
BC/EFA is one of the nation’s leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations. Since 1988 BC/EFA has raised over $195 million for essential services for people with AIDS and other critical illnesses across the United States. BC/EFA also awards annual grants to more than 400 AIDS and family service organizations nationwide.
Cabaret Night was organized by Alpha Psi Omega, a co-ed honor fraternity for theatre majors. The group has a strong connection to the arts and welcomed the chance to help those struggling with AIDS. Additional campus organizations such as, S.T.E.P.S, Improv Society, and the Performing Arts Company are also teaming up with Alpha Psi Omega to make this event a success.
This event is free, but donations are accepted and greatly appreciated. Every donation helps and makes a difference in the fight against AIDS.
