Campus Life to host 20th annual Leadership Awards Ceremony
The Office of Campus Life will be hosting the 20th annual Leadership Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 30, at 5 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room.
Timothy Piazza, president of Blackstone-Ney Electronics in Jamestown, N.Y., will be the special keynote speaker. Student tickets are available for purchase for $2 at the SUNY Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center.
Awards to be presented will be recognition of new members of the Alma Mater Society, and recipients of the Robert E. Coon Scholarship, Children of Alumni, Grandchildren of Alumni and the Undergraduate Alumni Council scholarships, as well as other awards. Students who have completed the Leadership Development Program will receive certificates and various clubs will have the opportunity to recognize outstanding members.
SUNY Fredonia’s Leadership Development Program will also be presenting the Service to Students Award to a faculty or staff member. The award recognizes a faculty or staff member at SUNY Fredonia for their time, dedication, and guidance in furthering student growth outside of the classroom. This is a competitive award and only one recipient receives it annually.
Dr. Piazza began as president of Blackstone-Ney Electronics in 2011. Previously, he held the position of Manager of Research and Development Technology with the Aeroengine Division of SKF in Jamestown, N.Y., and was an Assistant Professor at Jamestown Community College where he helped found the Manufacturing Technology Institute. Prior to that, he was General Manager of the Precision Cleaning Division of CAE Ultrasonics.
Piazza earned his doctoral degree in experimental nuclear physics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1997, a bachelor’s degree in physics from the State University of New York at Albany in 1992, and an associate degree in science and mathematics from Jamestown Community College in 1990.
