Campus will close or curtail services during Intersession

SUNY Fredonia will enter its annual energy-saving, year-end shutdown period at the close of business on Friday, Dec. 21. With the exception of a few offices, all buildings, services and operations across the campus will be curtailed until Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008.

The shutdown period allowed SUNY Fredonia to save approximately $60,000 last year in energy costs. Access to campus buildings will be limited to authorized personnel and heating will be reduced to minimal levels. Campus roads will continue to be plowed in case of snowy conditions, but parking lots considered non-essential will not be maintained until business opens the morning of Jan. 2.

Exceptions and details noted below:

Central Receiving  will be open Thursday and Friday, Dec. 27 and 28 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Packages will be delivered to buildings on a limited basis.  Closed Dec. 26 and 31.

Dods Hall: Closed Dec. 21 through Jan. 6.

Steele Hall: Closed Dec. 24, 25, and 31, and Jan. 1

Dods Hall Fitness Center: Open Monday through Friday, Jan. 7 through 25 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Open Sat., Jan. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 13 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Steele Hall Natatorium: The swimming pool is open Jan. 7 through Jan. 25 from Monday through Friday during the hours of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 8 to 10 p.m.

Reed Library: Closed from Saturday, Dec. 22 through Tuesday, Jan. 1.

SUNY Fredonia Federal Credit Union will be closed Dec., 24, 25, and 31, and Jan. 1. It will be open Wednesday, Dec. 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 27 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Regular hours resume Jan. 2.
 
 EAP will be closed throughout the shutdown, but the EAP Coordinator will check messages daily and make appointments if necessary during the holiday break.
 

Facilities Management/Building Services and Grounds (M&O) will have minimal staff during this period.  There will be minimal snow plowing and custodial services.  Non-essential parking lots will not be plowed and there will be no lighting in some of the residence hall parking lots.  In emergencies, please contact the University Police (ext. 3333) or the After Hours Service Center. (ext. 3454).

The University Bookstore and Convenience Store will be closed Dec. 24, 25, 31, and Jan. 1. Both will be open Dec. 26, 27, 28, and Jan. 2, 3, and 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cash, check, major credit cards, and SUNY Fredonia Debit Accounts will be accepted. Meal plans are not active during this period. 

Starbucks Coffee will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, but open all other days. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Dec. 22, 23, 29, 30, and Jan. 5 and 6. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 26, 27, 28, and Jan. 2, 3, and 4.  On Dec. 31, Starbucks will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cash, check, major credit cards, and SUNY Fredonia Debit Accounts will be accepted during this period. Meal plans are not active during this period. 

FSA Food Service operations and Signature Cafés will be closed during the Holiday Break. 

Cranston Marché will re-open for service beginning Jan 2 (hours TBD).  Cash and debit accounts will be accepted during this period. 

The FSA Office will be closed in accordance with the University shutdown.  

Campus Garage will be open Dec. 26 through 28 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Campus Mailroom will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 27 and 28. However, there will be no delivery of campus mail during the holiday shutdown. Departments may pick up their own mail from the Mailroom when Maytum Hall is open.

Paycheck Distribution – 401 Maytum Hall : Professional staff, faculty, and graduate assistant payroll checks dated Dec. 26, 2007 will be available for employee pick-up on Wednesday, Dec. 26 in the Accounting Office, 401 Maytum Hall from 10 a.m. to noon.   Employees may only pick up their own check and should bring picture identification.  Checks not picked up on this date will be distributed to departments on Wednesday, Jan. 2, along with all direct deposit advices.  Student and Work Study paychecks dated Jan. 2, 2008 will be distributed as usual on Jan. 3.  

Registrar’s Office: Final grades are due from faculty on Thursday, Dec. 27.

Residence Halls: The Residence Halls will close at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, and open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008.  Residence Life business and administrative offices will be open as per the University schedule.
