Career information in gerontology to be presented Tuesday

Information on one of the fastest-growing service career sectors in the U.S. will be available to SUNY Fredonia students at “Spotlight on Aging and Gerontology” on Tuesday, March 11, at 5:30 p.m. in Williams Center Room S204D.

Professionals from a variety of organizations that serve older populations will be available to meet with students at the mixer, which follows the Job & Internship Expo taking place that afternoon in the Multipurpose Room.

Representatives from the Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York, Bar Association of Erie County, Chautauqua County Office of the Aging, Fredonia Place, medical practices that serve geriatric patients, Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals on Wheels, Hospice of Chautauqua County, Lake Shore Hospital Behavioral Health, St. Columban’s on the Lake and the SUNY Fredonia Social Work program will be available to meet with students

The gathering, free to all students, is supported by the SUNY Fredonia Faculty Student Association and the Gerontology Society of America. It is being held in association with the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education’s annual Careers in Aging Week, which seeks to promote education and awareness of aging issues in the U.S. and career opportunities in the field of aging.

Other event sponsors include the SUNY Fredonia Career Development Office and Department of Psychology.
