Concerto Competition winner featured soloist for Homecoming weekend
The Fredonia School of Music will present two major concerts during Homecoming Weekend.
The SUNY Fredonia College Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. David Rudge and assistant conductor Eric Mahl, will perform works by Weber; the "Good Friday Spell," from Wagner's "Parsifal;" and Carl Nielson's Symphony No. 2, "The Four Temperaments," on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. in King Concert Hall.
Amanda Bottoms, a winner of the School of Music Concerto Competition, will be the featured soloist. "Amanda's dedication and hard work has won her SUNY Fredonia's highest honor — the Concerto Competition," commented Amanda's studio teacher, Adjunct Instructor Laurie Tramuta. "I could not be prouder of this young lady and her accomplishments!"
Amanda is currently in her senior year, pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance. She is a native of Buffalo, N.Y.
The School of Music will also present a Choral Showcase on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall featuring the College Choir, Chamber Choir and Women’s Choir.
Both events are free and open to the public.
