CRRDG selects campus and community advisors
FREDONIA, N.Y. — December 15, 2008 — SUNY Fredonia’s Center for Rural Regional Development and Governance (CRRDG) has established an advisory board that includes both SUNY Fredonia faculty and staff, as well as community leaders. Center Director Chuck Cornell said the creation of the board will further SUNY Fredonia’s vision of providing “greater support for the region's economic and educational development.”
“Under the leadership of President Hefner, and with input from the prestigious members of our advisory committee, we will continue to strengthen our role as a resource and catalyst to regional governance and development,” said Cornell. “This committee will also assist the Center in matching University resources with the needs of the surrounding community and region. We are indeed fortunate to have community leaders join us in our efforts to support regional development.”
The Advisory Committee includes:
- Dr. Lee Ann "Beez" Schell, Director of Professional Development, SUNY Fredonia
- Dr. Peter Sinden, Professor of Sociology and Anthropology, SUNY Fredonia
- Michael J. Sullivan, Mayor, Village of Fredonia
- John Gullo, local attorney and lecturer at SUNY Fredonia
- Daniel Schrantz, Portland Town Supervisor
- Amy Cuhel-Schuckers, Grants Development Specialist, SUNY Fredonia
- Dr. Richard Jankowski, Political Science Department Chair, SUNY Fredonia
- Todd Tranum, President and CEO, Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce, and Executive
- Director, Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier (MAST)
- Dr. Kevin Kearns, Associate Vice President of Graduate Studies and Research, SUNY Fredonia
Since its founding in 1997, the Center for Rural Regional Development and Governance has been a major catalyst for regional collaboration, governance innovations, community outreach and economic development. Its purpose is to engage the intellectual and analytical human resources of the SUNY Fredonia to enhance the region's governance and development capacity.
Specifically, the Center undertakes studies to provide blueprints for regional governance and development actions, as well as direct technical and strategic assistance to local government officials desiring to embark upon inter-municipal efforts.
