Fredonia to offer ice skating lessons in the new year

The new year will welcome a new round of public ice skating lessons at Fredonia, with instruction offered for skaters of all ages and skill levels, beginner through advanced.

Two sets of group lessons will be held each week at Steele Hall Ice Arena, on Sundays at 1 p.m. and Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m., beginning Jan. 3 and 5, 2016. Each lesson will be limited to 10 students. Helmets are not required, but are strongly recommended for beginner skaters.

Cost for 10 weeks of instruction and the concluding spring show is $90. Skate rental is also available. Registration can be placed online at the Fredonia Athletics website.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.

Day 2 results at Cortland

The 4x100 relay team took third place, and turned in a AARTFC qualifying time on the second day of the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Jacob Winn -- a member of the relay team -- also turned in a third place in the finals of the 100m dash.
