In a victory stance after their recent triumph at the Regional SIFE convention are, from left to right standing:  Susan Slagor, Caitlin Mitchell, Andrea Perlino, Kristen Marra, Jessica Albano, Professor Joseph Izzo, and Abigail Losh; and left to right at bottom, Kelly Maloney and Valerie Feldbauer.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say SUNY Fredonia “owns” the SIFE USA Regional Competition. Fredonia’s SIFE team has won the event the last nine times, and this year’s competition, held March 28 in Cleveland, wasn’t any different.

Chalk up another win – the 10th in a row – for SUNY Fredonia.

“This victory was especially gratifying,” said team advisor Joseph Izzo, marketing professor in the business administration department. “The team dedicated this competition to Dr. Franklin Krohn, who was the adviser since the team began 13 years ago.”

Serving on the victorious team at Regionals were: Abigail Losh, Jessica Albano, Valerie Feldbauer, Caitlin Mitchell, Andrea Perlino, Kristen Marra, Kelly Maloney and Susan Slagor. Additional students worked on SIFE projects during the school year.

The National competition, to be held in Dallas, Texas, in May, is the team’s next destination.

There are more than 1,400 SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) teams at universities in 48 countries. SIFE teams foster economic opportunities in their communities by organizing outreach projects devoted to market economics, entrepreneurship, personal financial success skills and business ethics.
