Golden Key to induct more than 50 into honor society

Maryanne Long, 2009 alumna, will deliver the keynote address at the Gold Key induction ceremony at SUNY Fredonia on Nov. 8. She is a former student representative of the Golden Key leadership council.

More than 50 SUNY Fredonia juniors and seniors will be inducted into the 2009 class of the Golden Key International Honour Society. The SUNY Fredonia chapter also is inducting five honorary members. Membership into Golden Key is by invitation only; those being inducted are in the top 15 percent of students at SUNY Fredonia, based on academic achievement. 

The induction ceremony will be held on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the Williams Center. A reception will immediately follow. Faculty, staff, and family and friends of the inductees are welcome to attend.

Maryanne Long, 2009 graduate of SUNY Fredonia, will deliver the keynote address. Honorary members being inducted include Dr. Christine Givner, founding dean of the College of Education; Mark Suida, assistant director of Campus Life; Patricia Feraldi, director of Alumni Affairs; Dr. Karolyn Stonefelt, a professor in the School of Music, and Dr. Jeanette McVicker, a professor of English. Honorary members are selected by Golden Key student members based on their active participation in scholarship, leadership and service on campus and in the community, and how they reflect the qualities and values of Golden Key.
