Nick Guarino and Jackie Majka won multiple events at the SUNYAC championship meet in Geneva, N.Y., on Saturday.
Junior Nick Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen) continued his terrific season Saturday at the SUNYAC championship meet, setting meet records in the mile and 800 meter races at Hobart and William Smith colleges. His mile time was 4:10.99 and his 800 was 1:53.62. He won both events and entered the weekend as the fastest miler this winter in NCAA Division III and among the fastest in the 800.

On the women's side, senior Jackie Majka (Cheektowaga/Depew) followed suit with three distinguished performances.  She cleared a season-best 1.61 meters in the high jump and a personal-best of 5.42 meters in the long jump, both victories. She also had a personal-best 11.15 meters in the triple jump, good for second place.

In other men's events, Eddie Novara (Angola/Lake Shore) was second in the 5,000 meters (season-best 15:11.20); David "Mac" McMahill (Hemlock/Livonia) was third in the 800 meters (1:56.57); junior Webster Thomas (Windsor, Conn./St. George's College) was fourth in the 55 meters (6.59 seconds); and sophomore Carl Caughell (Niagara Falls/Niagara-Wheatfield) was sixth in the 55-meter high hurdles (8.12 seconds; personal-best 8.02 seconds in the trials).
In field events, junior Broncho Rollins (Ithaca) was sixth in the pole vault (4.34 meters) and sophomore Andrew Charsky (Castleton-On-Hudson/Maple Hill) seventh in the triple jump (season-best 13.47 meters).

For the women, sophomore thrower Keri Heath (Farmington/Victor) was fourth in the 20-pound weight throw (13.55 meters). Two Blue Devil freshmen scored points in the pole vault. Chelsea Caruso (Falconer) tied for third and Jessica Gniazdowski (Arcade/Pioneer) tied for eighth. Caruso's vault of 10 feet earned her a second share of the Fredonia State indoor record. Gniazdowski cleared nine feet.

In running events, junior Kate Brett (Webster/Webster-Schroeder) was third in the 55-meter high hurdles (8.62 seconds), senior Rhea Williams (Windsor) was seventh in the 400 meters (personal-best 1:01.93), and senior Sarah Furman (West Berne/Berne-Knox-Westerlo) was seventh in the 5,000 meters (19:18.10).
