Ivani Vassoler-Froelich (International Studies Coordinator) was elected vice president of the Mid-Atlantic Council of Latin American Studies, which promotes, in the United States, research and teaching on Latin America and U.S.-Latin American relations. Her election took place at the organization's March conference, at which she and four of her students presented papers.

Also, The Brazilian Studies Seminar Series & the Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean (CERLAC) at York University in Toronto, Canada, have invited Dr. Vassoler-Froelich to present the talk, "The Quest for Urban Sustainability in the South: Drawing Lessons from the Governance Process in Curitiba, Brazil," on Wednesday, April 14.
