Jill Johnston, assistant professor of Visual Arts and New Media at SUNY Fredonia, will discuss “The Red Garden,” her current series, at the 3rd on 3rd Gallery in downtown Jamestown on Wednesday, March 21, from 7 to 9 p.m.

She will be one of four artists from Women Create, the first juried exhibition of women’s art at the gallery, participating in the artist salon that evening.

The artist salon is free and open to the public.

Forty-one artists were selected for the Women Create exhibit, which opened Feb. 11 and runs through March 31 at the gallery, located at 116 East 3rd St., adjacent to the Reg Lenna Civic Center. Women Create is presented in cooperation with the Arts Council for Chautauqua County.

Another Johnston image from “The Red Garden” is currently on display at “Flora and Fauna: Narrative Through Iconography” at Lockhart Gallery at SUNY Geneseo.

The juried exhibit features different media by 27 local and national artists and runs through March 8.
