Late December campus closing/January hours information

With some exceptions, campus buildings will be closed effective close of business Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, and will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018.

Human Resources will make alternate work site arrangements for employees requesting same (except faculty). UUP-represented Professionals and Classified staff must notify their supervisors and Human Resources (HR) in writing if they wish such an assignment. HR will notify the employee of their work location after arrangements have been made. Such requests should be received in HR no later than Dec. 8, 2017.

Campus and Community Children’s Center
The Campus and Community Children’s Center will be closed for families, Dec. 25, 2017 – Jan. 1, 2018.
Reopening Jan. 2, 2018.

Central Receiving/Stores
Open: Normal Hours – Dec. 26 - 29
There will be no deliveries to campus buildings during the shutdown.
Closed: Dec. 25 and Jan. 1

Credit Union
Open: Dec. 22   9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Dec. 26   9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

EAP
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will be closed Dec. 22 – Jan. 1. Please call 716-673-3586 for instructions, if service is necessary during the break.

Facilities Services
Facilities Services will have minimal maintenance and custodial staff during this period. There will be limited snow plowing of parking lots and walkways and limited snow shoveling at building entrances. Non-essential parking lots will not be plowed during the evenings and nights. In emergencies, please contact University Police (ext. 3333).

Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 meal plans are not active during the semester break; however, a J-75 Meal Plan will be available for students enrolled in J-Term. A J-75 plan functions for the J-Term session only. Cash, check, major credit cards, Fredonia Debit Accounts and FREDFunds are accepted during the semester break at Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Cranston Marche, University Bookstore and the C-Store.

The FSA Office will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 and will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.

Garage
Open: Normal Hours – Dec. 26 - 29

Mailroom
Open: Half Day - 8 a.m. to noon – Dec. 26, 27 and 28
Note: Mail must be to the mailroom by 11:15 a.m. for same day processing to the post office. No departmental mail deliveries or departmental mail pickups will be held during the shutdown.

Registrar’s Office
Final grades are due at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, through Your Connection.

Residence Halls
The Residence Halls will be closed from 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, through 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20.

Paycheck Distribution
• State Payroll - Professional staff, faculty and graduate assistant payroll checks dated 12/27/17 will be available for employee pick-up on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 in the University Accounting Office, Maytum Hall Room 402 between 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Please enter Maytum Hall via the loading dock door. State employees may only pick-up their own check and must bring picture identification. Any paychecks not picked-up will be distributed to departments as usual on Tuesday morning, Jan. 2, 2018.

It’s not too late to sign up for direct deposit! Completed forms must be turned in to the Payroll Office, Maytum Hall Room 303, by close of business Wednesday, Dec.13, 2017. Questions regarding direct deposit may be directed to Sue Cortes at ext. 3775.

Questions regarding paycheck distribution may be directed to Sandy Noble at ext. 3467.

• Student and College Work Study Payroll – Paychecks/advices dated 12/21/17 will be distributed to the departments as usual on that day.

A raffle, featuring items by well-known Fredonia area artists, will be held to raise money to support a student study abroad mission to Honduras. Students enrolled in the 2019 J-term course, Honduras Health Care, taught by Dr. Ted Lee, will conduct medical brigades and do service work at day-long clinics set up in schools or community centers in small rural communities.

Fredonia to host Safe Halloween for area children

The annual Safe Halloween, an event for local children and their parents/guardians, will be held at Fredonia on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon in Mason Hall. Guests are invited to come dressed up and ready for trick-or-treating. Every child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Actress and alumna Mary McDonnell to return to Fredonia on Homecoming Weekend

Fredonia will welcome two-time Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe-nominated actress Mary McDonnell, Fredonia Class of '74, back to campus. She will join Department of Theatre and Dance Associate Professor Jessica Hillman-McCord at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, in Robert W. Marvel Theatre for “An Afternoon with Mary McDonnell,” in what promises to be a lively and informal conversation about the actress’ life and career on the Broadway stage, in film and in television.
