Learn to Skate and figure skating classes offered

Two 10-week group skating lessons will be held at the Steele Hall Ice Arena offering instruction in how to skate, or figure skating. Each session will include a half-hour group lesson and a half-hour practice period. Groups will be organized by age. Skate rental is available. Helmets are not required but are recommended for beginners. To register, call the Sports Management and Exercise Science department at 716-673-3101. Joan Disbrow is the instructor.

The course scheduling is as follows:

Session One: Sundays from October 4 through Dec. 6
A) Beginner through Badge 7: 1:15 to 2:15 p.m.
B) Figure Skaters: 2:15 to 4:45 p.m. Students taking figure skating will be required to pass a Badge 7 test.

Session One: Thursdays, Oct. 1 through Dec. 10
C) Beginner through Badge 4: 6 to 7 p.m.
D) Badge 4 through 7 and adults: 7 to 8 p.m.

The Learn to Skate class is $75 and the Figure Skating class is $95.

A second session of the series will be offered January through March of 2010.
