Lake Shore Savings Bank President and CEO David C. Mancuso, left, presents a $10,000 sponsorship check to Tim Murphy, center, Director of Development for the Fredonia College Foundation and Jefferson Westwood, Director of the Rockefeller Arts Center. Lake Shore Savings will be the 2007-2008 season sponsor for Rockefeller Arts Center.

$10,000 commitment from Lake Shore Savings Bank will help bring a line up of diverse entertainment to the stages of the Michael C. Rockefeller Arts Center at the State University of New York at Fredonia during the 2007-2008 season.

A long-time supporter of Rockefeller Arts Center and SUNY Fredonia, Lake Shore Savings has significantly increased its commitment to the arts by becoming the first-ever season-wide sponsor for the center.

“Supporting the arts enriches the lives of everyone on campus, as well as the surrounding communities,” said David C. Mancuso, President and CEO of Lake Shore Savings. “Lake Shore Savings is proud to be the corporate sponsor for the 2007-2008 season.”
Rockefeller Arts Center Director Jefferson Westwood said this is not the first time Lake Shore Savings has set a new standard in support of the arts center.

“Lake Shore Savings was our first-ever corporate sponsor and has been with us ever since 1987,” Westwood said. “That year, they gave us $750 to sponsor one Kaleidoscope Series event. They have stepped up to the plate each time we have asked, and until recently sponsored one Pops concert and one Kaleidoscope show annually.”

The 2007-2008 performing arts season at Rockefeller Arts Center begins in October and runs through May. Lake Shore Savings will underwrite the entire season, which includes events in the DFT Communications Pops Series, the Howard Hanna Holt Real Estate Kaleidoscope Series, the Walter Gloor Mainstage Series and the World Travel Series.

“I am absolutely delighted that Lake Shore Savings has agreed to be our flagship sponsor by underwriting our entire 2007-2008 season,” Westwood said. “Their commitment will have a huge impact on our programming and is setting an example for other companies in our area to follow.”

Lake Shore Savings has deep roots in the community, having been chartered in 1891 in Dunkirk. Over the last century-plus, the financial institution has experienced tremendous growth. Since opening its first branch office in Fredonia in 1987, Lake Shore Savings has added branches in Westfield, Jamestown, Orchard Park, Hamburg and East Amherst. At the same time, Lake Shore Savings has seen its assets grow to in excess of $300 million.

Lake Shore Savings’ support of SUNY Fredonia goes well beyond the sponsorship of events at Rockefeller Arts Center. In 2001, Lake Shore Savings presented a gift of $100,000 to the Fredonia College Foundation to purchase the 40-foot clock tower and carillon that stands inside Symphony Circle at the Ring Road intersection on campus. Lake Shore Savings has also been a strong supporter of SUNY Fredonia through gifts to the Fredonia College Foundation and has established a scholarship for children of employees who are enrolled at SUNY Fredonia.

Through its Community Reinvestment Fund, Lake Shore Savings supports many additional worthy activities in the local area. The Community Reinvestment Fund makes money available to area clubs, sports organizations, civic groups, schools, charitable organizations and others for programs and activities.
