Math and Science Challenge for 300 high school students to be held May 18

On Friday, May 18, SUNY Fredonia will welcome nearly 300 high school students from 15 school districts in Western New York for the 12th annual High School Math/Science Challenge. Working in teams, students will tackle a wide assortment of math and science challenges that reflect a reality TV theme.

The Math/Science Challenge activities will be staged in 202/209 McEwen Hall and the Steele Hall Indoor Track Arena, beginning at 9 a.m. Final events, as well as the awarding of T-shirts and trophies to the winning schools, start at approximately 11:30 a.m. in 209 McEwen Hall.

Faculty members and students from the Department of Mathematical Sciences and faculty from various science departments will moderate and conduct the activities.

The schools scheduled to compete include: Clymer, Dunkirk, East Aurora, Eden, Falconer, Fredonia, Frewsburg, Forestville, Gowanda, Holy Angels, Jasper-Troupsburg, Lake Shore, Orchard Park, Panama, Pioneer and Southwestern.
