Music fraternity holds 5K race to turn jing-a-lings into cha-chings

The Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity is sponsoring the Jingle Bell Walk/Run on Saturday, Dec. 5 to benefit the Delia Wallis Scholarship Fund and the Sol Schoenbach Scholarship Fund.

The 5K race begins at 10:30 a.m. in downtown Fredonia’s Barker Commons. From there participants will make their way to Lambert Ave., Newton St., and Ring Rd. before returning to the Barker Commons via Temple St. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and costs $10, with $5 going toward each scholarship.

Runners and walkers are encouraged to dress up in holiday costumes, but dress warmly as this event will go forward, rain/snow or shine. Each participant will also be given jingle bells which can be attached to their shoes to add to the holiday festivities and fun.

The Jingle Bell Walk/Run will kick off the Village of Fredonia’s "Miracle on Main St." event series, with the tree lighting taking place right after the race at noon in Barker Commons. Refreshments will be provided after the race and during the tree lighting ceremony.
