Natalie Weber wins fellowship to University of Texas

Natalie Weber of West Seneca, NY, has been awarded the Graduate School Recruitment Fellowship to attend the internationally recognized Early Childhood Education Program at the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Stuart Reifel, Professor at UT Austin and recognized expert in the field of early childhood education and the role of children’s play with learning development, described this renowned Fellowship as “difficult to obtain, prestigious, and un-common.”
Weber is a College of Education student currently completing her Master of Science Degree in Education, Literacy Birth to Grade 6 as well as working on her Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Grades K-12.
Weber also works as a Graduate Assistant in the College of Education and is the Reading First Coordinator. She holds New York State Teacher Certification in Early Childhood, Birth to Grade 2, and Childhood Education Grades 1-6.
After completion of her Fredonia degrees, Weber will be eligible for New York State Teacher Certification in Literacy Birth to Grade and TESOL Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Before coming to Fredonia in Fall 2009, Weber earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Medaille College in Buffalo. From 2007-11, she provided in-home tutoring for K-12 struggling students; from 2005-08 she served as Program Director, Supervisor, and Head Coach at a gymnastics and fitness center; from 2001-05 she was a Kindergarten Teacher at a private school; and prior to that she was a teacher for infants and 3 year olds.
Weber also served in the U.S. Army Reserves as Staff Sergeant of the 402nd Civil Affairs Battalion, Tonawanda, from 1989-1996. In 1993, she earned the Army Achievement Medal.
Embarking on her next adventure, Weber and her husband plan to re-locate their family this summer to Austin. They have already found a Texas farmhouse with 80 acres to rent. Her two daughters, 14 year old Gabrielle and 18 year old Rachel, are excited about the prospect of ranch life.
