SUNY Fredonia will celebrate the second-largest graduating class in campus history during its 186th annual Commencement ceremonies, to be held this Saturday, May 18, in Steele Hall Arena. Bachelor’s and master’s degree recipients, as well as those earning advanced certificates, will be honored at two ceremonies, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. In all, 1,355 undergraduates and 167 graduate student and advanced certificate recipients are eligible to participate.

The exhibition, titled “The Fine Arts Senior Show,” will open with a reception in the art gallery from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 3. The exhibition will highlight the best works by graduating Fine Arts students. Artists taking part in the exhibition are Jillian Berowski, Audrey Bialke, Dani Brooks, Tricia Butski, Lesley Cerniglia, Erica Kang, Christine McMullen, Sarah Peck, Lizzie Reid and Kimberly Zazzara.
No. 17 Fredonia State rolled over Potsdam, 18-4, to improve to 14-0 and tie a single-season team record for wins in a season. The Blue Devils, 6-0 in the SUNYAC, matched the 14 wins recorded by last year's team en route to Fredonia State's first-ever NCAA appearance in women's lacrosse. There are two regular-season games remaining -- Tuesday at Brockport, and next Saturday at No. 4 Cortland.

SUNY Fredonia’s Career Development Office (CDO) will host its annual Graduate School Fair on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. Representatives from over 50 graduate schools and organizations from across New York State and beyond will be in attendance, providing hands-on information. The fair is just one of many events happening during Graduate School Week, Oct. 15-19.
Senior Christina Marsh won the Social Work Student of the Year at the Annual National Association of Social Workers Western Division Luncheon recently. The mother of four who finished her degree while working, doing internships, and taking care of her family, will be graduating May 12 with a 3.67 GPA with a major in Social Work and a minor in Public Health.
