President issues SEFA statement

Message from President Dennis L. Hefner on 2008-09 SEFA Campaign
September 30, 2008

"Please consider making a contribution to this year’s State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign. I know you are asked to support many worthy projects, but the comprehensive services provided to our community by the many SEFA agencies makes this campaign special. Our campus is nearing second among the SUNY University Colleges in SEFA participation rates. Let’s aim for #1 as we attempt to reach a 100% participation rate.

"Jan and I believe very strongly in giving time, energy, and money to support these wonderful agencies. Each year we offer a different Presidential SEFA Challenge to show our support for this worthy effort. This year, everyone pledging to SEFA will be entered into a drawing, and fourteen of you will be invited to a December holiday lunch at the President’s house and will receive a box of our homemade candy. We’ve offered a challenge every year because it adds a little fun to the campaign, but also because we believe your support for SEFA is so important.

"Your SEFA donation benefits a wide variety of local agencies that provide services to our neighbors, our community, and us. For example, the Meals on Wheels program enables many local senior citizens to remain in their homes, leading independent lives. And right here on campus, the Campus and Community Children’s Center in Thompson Hall receives a portion of its support from SEFA contributions.

"Jan and I hope you will join us in demonstrating the positive difference that all of us can make in this community through full participation in the SEFA campaign."
