Science fiction writer here for two-day event

Award-winning science fiction and fantasy writer Nalo Hopkinson will meet students, faculty and staff during a two-day visit to SUNY Fredonia. 

Ms. Hopkinson will present a reading/lecture on race in science fiction on Monday, April 21, 4:30 p.m., at W101 Thompson. Her presentation is free and open to all. On Tuesday, April 22, at 2 p.m., she will meet with students, faculty and staff at G-26 McEwen.

A native of Jamaica who has also lived in Trinidad, Guyana, the United States and Canada, Ms. Hopkinson is the author of four novels and two short story collections and has added essays, editing and art to her repertoire.  Her most recent novel, The New Moon's Arms, was recently shortlisted for the Nebula and Aurora awards.

Her works include: Skin Folk, Brown Girl In the Ring and Midnight Robber (both of which were nominated for the Philip K. Dick award). She currently lives in Toronto, Canada.

Her visit is being sponsored by the Mary Louise White Fund, the Science Fiction Fantasy Gamers’ Guild, Pride Alliance, and the SUNY Fredonia College of Arts & Humanities.
