Scott Bye, '06, returns to install sculpture for In Sight/On Site

Lisa Eikenburg

Scott Bye, a Western New York artist and SUNY Fredonia alumna whose works are a hybrid of found materials and creative fabrication of unlikely structures produced from everyday objects, will return to his alma mater on Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13, for a sculpture installation as part of the In Sight/On Site program.

The installation, to take place in the gravel plinth on the east side of Reed Library, facing Fenton Hall, will be a hands-on workshop with art students. The horizontal sculpture by Bye will measure approximately 35 feet in length and will be made out of cedar lathe and constructed on site.

The In Sight/On Site program is funded by Artforum, a student group.

Bye, based in Buffalo, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2006 and regularly exhibits his work throughout Western New York.
