Student art sale on April 23

Students from various fields in the Department of Visual Arts and New Media will be selling their work at a student art sale in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room on Monday, April 23, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thirty percent of the proceeds will be going to a local food pantry.

Student artists participating in the sale include Jessica Smith, a junior B.F.A. majoring in Sculpture, selling bronze sculptures and pendants; Torry Haggins, junior B.F.A. Ceramics and Film, selling functional ceramic work; Joelle Beaulieu, senior B.F.A. Graphic Design, selling functional ceramic work and stickers and buttons; Katelyn Killoran, senior B.F.A. Graphic Design, selling stickers, posters, and prints; Natalie Sacchitella, junior B.F.A. Ceramics and Graphic Design, selling functional ceramic work and stickers and buttons; Leanna Harp, senior B.F.A. Ceramics, selling functional and sculptural ceramics and relief prints; Mattea Guldy, junior B.F.A. Illustration/Animation, selling prints, stills, buttons and stickers; Emery Mauro, junior B.F.A. Sculpture and Ceramics, selling functional ceramic work; Brittany Sambrook, senior B.F.A. Illustration/Animation, selling decorative 3D felt food pins; Rey Kelleher, junior B.F.A. Graphic Design, selling prints and stickers; and Ani Cantres, senior B.F.A. Illustration/Animation, selling print and stickers.

Artists donate items to raffle to support student medical mission to Honduras

A raffle, featuring items by well-known Fredonia area artists, will be held to raise money to support a student study abroad mission to Honduras. Students enrolled in the 2019 J-term course, Honduras Health Care, taught by Dr. Ted Lee, will conduct medical brigades and do service work at day-long clinics set up in schools or community centers in small rural communities.

Fredonia to host Safe Halloween for area children

The annual Safe Halloween, an event for local children and their parents/guardians, will be held at Fredonia on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon in Mason Hall. Guests are invited to come dressed up and ready for trick-or-treating. Every child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Actress and alumna Mary McDonnell to return to Fredonia on Homecoming Weekend

Fredonia will welcome two-time Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe-nominated actress Mary McDonnell, Fredonia Class of '74, back to campus. She will join Department of Theatre and Dance Associate Professor Jessica Hillman-McCord at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, in Robert W. Marvel Theatre for “An Afternoon with Mary McDonnell,” in what promises to be a lively and informal conversation about the actress’ life and career on the Broadway stage, in film and in television.
