Eligible students are invited to compete for three $1,000 scholarships to the State University of New York at Fredonia as a result of a scholarship fund created by Welch’s and the National Grape Cooperative for its employees and grower-owners.

Established through the Fredonia College Foundation, the Welch’s/National scholarships have been awarded since 1996. Scholarship applications are now available for students who will be attending SUNY Fredonia in the academic year commencing in the fall of 2008. Any child or grandchild of a Welch’s or National Grape employee or member in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio or Canada is eligible for the scholarship.

Applications are due May 10. Interested candidates, who must have applied or have already been accepted to SUNY Fredonia for the Fall 2007 academic year, should contact the National Grape Cooperative office at 2 S. Portage St., Westfield, N.Y. 716-326-5200.

“As a brand that is committed to the well-being of families – with a line of wholesome, quality products – our dedication transcends nutrition for the body to include feeding the mind,” said Jennifer Marino, director of marketing services at Welch’s. Marino continued, “As such, our support of continuing education will remain a hallmark commitment by Welch’s for this and future generations.”
