World Travel Series goes to Costa Rica

Christine Davis Mantai

Filmmaker Sandy Mortimer will screen and discuss her latest travel adventure film, "Exploring Costa Rica: Colors, Creatures and Curiosities" on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in King Concert Hall.  Tickets will be available at the door.  One child age 12 or younger will be admitted free with each adult ticket purchase.

Ms. Mortimer's appearance marks the third event in the 2005-2006 World Travel Series at Rockefeller Arts Center and is sponsored by The Waters of Westfield, The Waters of Dunkirk and The Waters of Eden.

When Ms. Mortimer last visited SUNY Fredonia in March 2005, her travel documentary "Ireland: Celtic Myths and Splendors" drew the largest crowd of the three events in the World Travel Series of the season.  She will return with "Exploring Costa Rica.," another vibrant, colorful film that studies the people and places of the peaceful Central American country.

Ms. Mortimer traveled to Costa Rica twice in 2000 to shoot the footage for what would become "Exploring Costa Rica." During these visits, she saw the full spectrum of life in this small nation straddling the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea - the emerald beauty of Monteverde Rain Forest, the surprising significant history of Santa Rosa National park, the friendly capital of San Jose, the wild grasslands of Guanacaste and more.
