New York State Climate Science Standards

In December 2016, the Board of Regents of the New York State Education Department (NYSED) adopted the New York State P-12 Science Learning Standards, based on the Next Generation Science Standards and the National Research Council's 2011 publication A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Core Ideas.  These learning standards took effect on July 1, 2017.

• Introduction to the New York State P-12 Science Learning Standards   This pdf document gives an overview of the standards and how to navigate through them.
• New York State P-12 Science Learning Standards  This pdf document (80 pages) contains all of the standards in order of increasing grade level.  The standards related to climate science and climate change begin in the Middle School (MS) grades, starting on page 47.
• Next Generation Science Standards: Global Climate Change  This site contains the Next Generation Science Standards related to the Core Disciplinary Idea of Global Climate Change.
