October 14, 2021 message from President Kolison

October 14, 2021

Dear Fredonia community:

Happy Thursday evening! I hope you have had a wonderful week and have been outside enjoying our beautiful fall weather. I have a brief update for you this week.

UPD investigation
University Police continue to investigate last week’s incident in which two students were assaulted on campus by an unknown male.  Detailed reviews of campus security camera video, information sharing with local law enforcement agencies, and information provided by the campus community have helped focus the investigation and allowed University Police to adjust their patrol operations to minimize the risk of a recurrence. Anyone with information is asked to call UPD at 716-673-3333.

COVID-19 cases and protocols
As of this morning, we have exactly one active case of COVID-19 among students. That fact is a strong sign the 97% vaccination rate for students is leading to a safer campus. I am very pleased and hope this trend continues.

Our health professionals and various COVID-19 committees on campus are reviewing our current safety protocols in light of the decline in COVID-19 cases on campus.  I will let you know next week whether we will be making adjustments in our protocols.

Homecoming returns
I am very pleased that Homecoming activities have returned to Fredonia after a one-year hiatus. There are many fun events planned throughout this weekend. Students, I hope you’ll join us for a very fun student event, “Fredonia’s Got Talent,” on Saturday evening.  A full schedule of Homecoming ’21 events is available on our events calendar.

I hope to see many of you around campus at one of the many Homecoming events.  Let’s have a wonderful and safe weekend!

Very truly yours,

Dr. K
